If you are an experienced routesetter seeking a clearer understanding of high-level bouldering routesetting, this workshop is for you! Full day of experiential learning, one-on-one instruction, and constructive feedback through mock rounds of competition setting. Pre-reqs: USAC Level 3+ or Assistant Routesetter at 5 USAC Championship events.

The new CWA WAH Level 1 course certifies candidates as authorized workers in a climbing facility. This course has online course work and one 8-hour in-person day. All necessary equipment provided.

Opening a climbing facility isn’t just about the business model, your budget, real estate, operations, cool climbing walls, or construction costs; because none of the pieces make complete sense on their own. Developing a project efficiently is about balancing all these parts from the beginning, because your project development investment is by far, the most expensive part of opening a climbing facility. This session is about helping you understand how we can balance these pieces, so that we can focus on opening an amazing climbing gym.

Building Better Rounds Clinic (Routesetting)

How do we fairly challenge competitors with widely ranging levels of ability? -What round concepts transfer from boulder comps to rope comps? -How do we create a round where the movement of the climbers on the wall is the visual focal point? This clinic will be a mixture of classroom discussion of concepts as well as setting draft ideas in small teams for a hypothetical round. We'll conclude with a debrief and Q&A.

During this workshop we will explore route setting from a different angle, studying decision making, hold selection, tweaks and how it impacts the quality of the boulders.
